Important Dates and Dealines
Parking Lot Change (Spring Lane)
This is a reminder, to please follow the new parking lot procedures in the Spring Lane lot. (See the map below.) These are the main differences to the routine:
- Those who enter the drop-off lane, which is indicated by the yellow and orange arrows on the map, may not go through the cones to park.
- After you drop your child off, you will continue around the outside lane (indicated by the orange arrows on the map) of the parking lot to the main exit.
- As before, please pull forward in front of the gym to drop off so that traffic does not back up onto Spring Lane. There will be a sign indicating the desired drop-off spot. If you are able to pull forward to that spot, but choose to not do so, you will experience the scornful looks of annoyed drivers behind you.
- If you would like to park, enter through the main entrance and proceed along the red arrow path to the parking lane. If you park, please walk with your child across the drop-off lane. Please do not park and allow your child to cross the traffic alone. Also, please do not enter through the exit. (That sounds funny, but over the years, the main exit has become the main entrance for many drivers.)
Please contact the main office if you have any questions.
Vision and Hearing Test
If you would like to have your child tested and they are not in the grade we will be testing, please contact the school office at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The School Board, faculty, and administration recently discussed possible changes to the school hair policy. Below is the updated policy:
Students’ hair must not block one’s eyes or distract the student or others. The hair should be its natural color (dye-free and not intentionally bleached). No designs, lines (other than a natural part line), or pictures may be shaved into a student’s hair. A student may be asked to cut, adjust, or re-dye his/her hair if the administration believes that the student’s hair does not conform to the aforementioned guidelines. Once a parent/guardian has been alerted to the student’s hair not being in compliance, the hair must be in compliance before the student is allowed back to school. A grace period may be granted by the administration.
Recess will not be held outside on red or orange air quality days. With parent/guardian request, teachers will make special arrangements for students with asthma on yellow air quality days or if a student’s asthma necessitates restricting strenuous physical activity.
The Health and Safety Committee of the St. Vincent School Board had lead testing done for the water in the school and Holy Family Hall. (Nano Nagle Children Center’s water was tested and passed after new water lines were installed there and in the school in 2015.) Follow up testing is recommended for samples whose initial draw samples show lead in excess of 20 micrograms per liter. We are happy to report that none of our values are anywhere near that; the average for the 9 water locations we tested was 0.57. Next, the Health and Safety Committee is going to help the parish test the water in the rectory, church, and Benvegnu Center.
Girls on the Run Program
Registration is now open for Girls on the Run!!! Girls on the Run is a transformational, physical activity based, positive youth development program for girls in 3rd-8th grade. We teach life skills through dynamic interactive lessons and running games. The program culminates with the girls being physically and emotionally prepared to complete a celebratory 5k running event. The goal of the program is to unleash confidence through accomplishment while establishing a lifetime appreciation of health and fitness. The program will run from March 12th until June 2nd. Practices will be held at St Vincent on Mondays from 3:30-5:15. Please visit girlsontherunutah.org for more information and to register.
Also, we are looking for volunteers to help with practice. Please contact Alli Gardner if you are interested at email@example.com.
Saint Vincent de Paul Parish School Open House
Our Open House will be Thursday, January 25th from 5:30 pm to 7:00 p.m. We will have a presentation for prospective families at 5:30 pm in the school gym, followed by tours. Please encourage neighbors, friends, co-workers, and families to come to see why Saint Vincent School is so GREAT!
The number one reason why new families come to our school is word of mouth from parents like you! At Saint Vincent de Paul Parish School we have a parent referral program for grades Kindergarten through 8th grade. This program rewards those that assist to bring new students to our school. Qualifying referrals are rewarded with a $500 credit off next year’s tuition.
Nano Nagle Children’s Center (Infant through 3 year olds) will also be open for tours on January 25th from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm.
