Last Day of School

Friday, May 25th is the last day of school. Dismissal will be at 11:00 AM. If your child will be attending Extended Day, please make sure to provide your child with lunch. Granite will not be providing lunch on this day.

Faculty/Staff Changes

We are pleased to announce that we have hired Mrs. Kim Howe as our new 4th grade teacher! Mrs. Howe has her Masters Degree in Teaching from Westminster College. She taught 4th grade for 2 years and 5th grade for 1 year at St. Francis Xavier School. Mrs. Howe has also worked in other elementary schools as a reading tutor. She is very enthusiastic about teaching and will undoubtedly show the students that they are loved!

Mrs. Yvonne Zdybowicz, one of our kindergarten co-teachers, is going to pursue other teaching adventures, and so will not be returning to St. Vincent’s. We thank her for her service to the school and wish her the best of luck! Mrs. Elyse Reiser, our other kindergarten co-teacher, will be the sole lead kindergarten teacher next school year and will have a full-time aide.

We are also pleased to announce that Mrs. Brooke Gaztambide, our current middle school art teacher, will teach art in grades kindergarten through 8 next school year. Mrs. Gaztambide has a Bachelors Degree in Graphic and Advertising Design and has been involved in the St. Vincent art program for 11 years.

The school has hired a new librarian and she has already begun working with Mrs. Airriess! More information about our new librarian will be sent in next Tuesday’s blast.

Thursday Lunch

As part of our field day festivities, we will be providing pizza on Thursday, May 24th for students in grades K-7.

Bake Sale Proceeds

We would like to thank everyone who helped make the bake sale last Friday a success. We raised $348.85 that will go to Primary Children’s Hospital NiCU (neonatal intensive care unit).

PIP and Scrip Obligations

This is a reminder that if you have not met your PIP and SCRIP obligations, we will be doing an auto deduction on June 5th from your account that we have on file. If you have any questions, please contact the school office.

A Big Thank You!

We would like to give a big thanks to all of our School Board Members, Home and School Members, and our Room Parents. These volunteers were instrumental in contributing to a great school year. An especially big thank you to our departing School Board President, Zach Pino, and our Home and School President, Kim Neville-Frankel.

Crayola Markers

St. Vincent parent Kelly Love has found a great program for our school to participate in entitled Crayola Color Cycle. Crayola and schools across North America are joining together to assist children in understanding the importance of their role in protecting the environment. Through this initiative, students in K-12 schools are encouraged to collect and re-purpose used markers and eliminate placing hundreds of tons of markers into landfills. Crayola ColorCycle will accept all brands of plastic markers, not just Crayola markers. That includes dry erase markers and highlighters!

We will have a collection box located by the school office. The school is already registered, so we can start collecting right away! Perfect timing for cleaning out old school supplies as the school year comes to an end.

End of the Year Field Day

We are excited to have a field day this year on Thursday, May 24th from 12:30 to 2:45. (This event is in lieu of our usual swim day.) The field day will be for students in grades K-7th. Below is the schedule:

11:30-12:15 – Students will eat in the Pavillon and playground areas. Before or after eating, students will apply sunscreen.

12:15-12:30- Students will gather their belongings (water bottle, towel, etc.) and meet in their family rooms.

12:30-2:45-Students will go to the different events on the lower field with their school families.

Summer Math Books

Summer Math books are a requirement for students entering 1st through 8th grade. Summer Math books are $15.00. Homeroom teachers will be passing out the summer math books the last week of school. You may come into the school office to pay for the Summer Math book or, we will do an automatic deduction of the $15 on June 5th from your account we have on file. Please contact the school office with any questions.

Completed books will be turned in the first day of school in the fall. Questions regarding math books may be directed to your child’s teacher.

Literacy All Star Reading

Accept the summer challenge and join the Literacy All Stars! ALL students have received the Lit All Star Scorecard and summer challenge list–(on bright blue paper). Review the Lit All Star Scorecard and Challenges, choose challenges, or think of your own, and build literacy skills. COMPLETE Literacy Challenges, RETURN the Scorecard the first week of school, EARN an invite to the team party and other possible prizes. Scorecards are available in the school office, or find the logo under featured events on the SV website.

Summer Party Boards

We have two Party Boards that take place early and late summer. Sign up today to join in the fun HERE.

Tent Event 2018 – Saturday, June 2, 2018 at 4 p.m. to Sunday, June 3 after breakfast (on the school field.) – Registration Deadline is next Tuesday, May 29th.
Cost is $60 per family or $15 per individual.
This is a fantastic way to end the school year and start the summer! Join us for an evening of fun with family and friends. You supply your camping gear and favorite beverages. We’ll supply the food and fire. The fun will take care of itself. You don’t want to miss this!

Beer-lympics – Saturday, August 11, 2018 from 4 to 10 p.m. at the home of Shawn and Sarah Lambert.
Cost is $40 per person; limited to 40 people. Adults only.
Each competing couple will be paired with another couple to make a country. The country names and couples will be published on August 4th. The fun begins at 4:30 p.m. with the Calderon lighting and team introductions. At 4:45 p.m. the schedule of event begins with Washers, Ski Pole Horse Shoes, Cornhole, and Lawn Golf which will all be couples events. Followed by Beer Pong Baseball with all of the athletes from your respective country. A medal ceremony will take place around 9:30 p.m. to award medal to the winning countries. The last place team will receive a special award, and the best team uniform that exemplifies their country of origin will also be awarded. Hosted by Shawn & Sarah Lambert and CordeliaBiscayne/Olympic Committee Co-Chairpersons.

School Fees

All fees are due on June 5th and will automatically be taken out of your tuition account. If you do not have an account set up with us, you will need to bring in your fees by June 5th. The fees for the 2018-2019 school year are as follows:

  • Student Services Fee: K-8th grade, $175 per child (Includes student insurance, Diocesan fees, textbooks, standardized tests, technology fee, workbooks, and yearbook)
  • Math Fee: 6th – 8th grade, $175 per child
  • Graduation Fee: 8th grade only, $75
  • Chromebook: 6-8th grade per child, $280 (If purchased through school, includes license)

Sci-Fi -n- Superhero Soiree Casino Night & Auction
It’s our very own Saint Vincent Community “Comic Con” evening! Come as your favorite Sci-Fi or Superhero character and enjoy fun casino games, dinner, silent/live auction, and dancing! Watch for more event details in August.

We are pleased to announce that Amy Burchett has agreed to co-chair next year’s auction and are hoping for one more person to co-chair with us. If interested and you want to help plan the event, please contact Therese in the Development office at tclay@stvincents-school.org. We have a lot of fun and not a lot of meetings, so come join our auction team!

Lost and Found

Don’t forgot to go through the lost-and-found items during the used uniform sale in the GYM. Any items left in the lost-and-found after Friday, May 25th, will be donated to a charity.

Granite School Lunch

We would like to remind everyone that all balances owed to Granite School Lunch must be paid by the last day of school. Granite School Lunch will bill Saint Vincent for any outstanding balances. Balances remaining will be deducted from bank accounts on file June 5th.

Any money remaining in your Paypams account will be refunded to you in the summer with a check. Please call or stop by the school office with any questions.

Vacation Bible School

Please click below for the Vacation Bible School Registration Form. Vacation Bible School will be July 16 – 20. You may drop the registration form at the school office or take it the the church rectory. The deadline to register will be Friday, June 1, 2018.
