8th Grade Play

Our 8th grade class will perform “Trouble in Friendlyville”–a western comedy musical of epic proportions! Performances are Thursday, November 16th at 1:30 pm (for the students) and 6:30 pm in the gym. Hope to see y’all there! (Please note that a strobe light will be used.)

Attendance Awards Change

In the past, awards were given out to any student who had perfect attendance at the end of the school year. After discussions with the School Board, Leadership Team, and the faculty, we have decided to no longer give an award for perfect attendance. We feel that eliminating the possibility of students coming to school while sick in order to stay eligible for the award outweighs the need to recognize those who have achieved perfect attendance.

Furry Friday: November 17th

Friday the 17th is going to be a “Furry Friday.” There will be a Drink and Donut sale to help our furry friends at the Utah Humane Society (under the Pavilion if the weather is good, or in the gym otherwise). Anyone who brings a donation to the Utah Humane Society will receive a free Drink and Donut. Drinks and donuts can also be purchase for $1 each. Needed donations requested by the the Humane Society include: Dry dog & dry puppy food, dry cat & dry kitten food, cat litter, cat and dog toys, soft cat and dog treats, canned dog and cat food, disinfectant wipes, and bleach. Also, any cash donations are greatly appreciated. Please join us Friday the 17th to help out our furry friends. Donut miss it!

Auction Tickets

Keep a look out for your Casino Royale Auction invitations coming home from school this Thursday in one of your child’s backpacks! Included is the general reservation form, patron table sign-up (limited availability so sign up early), and underwriting sponsorship opportunities. Online sales will open this Friday. Keep your eyes out for a special auction blast that day with more auction news and the registration link!

Extended Day Now Hiring

Extended Day provides after school childcare for grades Pre-K through 8th grade.We are currently hiring part-time caregivers/teachers for after school. Hours would be 3:00 pm to 5:30 pm, Tuesdays and Thursdays, and at other times when a substitute teacher is needed. Pay is based on experience.

The Holidays are fast approaching. We would like to remind everyone to please use our scrip (gift cards) program to cover all your holiday gift card needs. Gift cards provide a great way to get your shopping done while helping our school. Basketball Practices (2nd-8th Grades)

Basketball practices started this week; please note that students may not stay after school to wait for their basketball practices unless the practice starts at 3:30 pm. If the practice starts at 4:30 pm or later, the student must be picked up by a parent or go to Extended Day until the practice starts. Students who attend Homework Lab (which ends at 3:50 pm) must also be picked up by a parent or go to Extended Day even if they have a practice that starts at 4:30 pm. Parents may not leave children in the gym unless their coach is present. These rules are in place to make sure children are always supervised to maximize their safety. Thank you for your help!

Science Fair Judges

Mrs. Musci, our 8th grade teacher, is looking for a few more volunteers to help judge the Science Fair on January 24th. She would like the volunteers to have experience with science. If you would like to volunteer or know someone that you think would be a great judge, please email Mrs. Musci at tmusci@stvincents-school.org.

Thanksgiving Food and Clothing Drive

The Knights of Columbus are collecting new and gently used winter clothing for Catholic Community Services through November 20th. Boxes for clothing donations are located in the school foyer and in the church.

Ski and Snowboard Program (3rd-8th)

It is time to register for the Brighton Ski/Snowboard Program. This program is open to all students in grades 3rd – 8th and takes place after school on Friday afternoons, starting December 1st. You may stop by the office to pick up a registration form or click on the following for more details and to register.

American Red Cross Blood Drive

An American Red Cross blood drive is scheduled for Monday, November 20, from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. in Intermountain Medical Center’s auditorium (building 6). To RSVP or get more information, log on to http://www.redcrossblood.org/ and enter the sponsor code IMC – or call Human Resources at 801-507-7910. Walk-ins are also welcome. If you have questions about your eligibility to donate, please call 866-236-3276.

Our goal is to make this our highest-volume blood drive ever. The blood we collect will also support people who need blood over the holidays, when donations typically drop off.
