Random Acts of Kindness Week

Random Acts of KindnessNovember 14-18, 2016

Greetings to All Parents/Guardians at St. Vincent,
Kick off to Random Acts of Kindness Week starts on Monday morning 11/14!
We have week of fun planned with themes and activities centered on encouragement, gratitude and caring for others. There will be a kindness theme for each day and age- appropriate activities to accompany.

Here’s the outline:

DAY 1: Mindful MONDAY: Kick off to Kindness!

There will be a Kindness Week Mural in the hall for students to write down something they did that was kind recently. You can stop by and write on it too! They will also be given a small token to have as a reminder to be kind and a personal note of encouragement.

DAY 2: Thoughtful TUESDAY: Become a RAKtivist!

RAKtivist’ is short for ‘Random Acts of Kindness activist’. Think of RAKtivists like kindness ambassadors. To encourage this, a card with one act of kindness will be given to each student to complete (ex.:hold door open for fellow student at recess, tell a friend why they are special, etc.). By the end of the week-each teacher will have a jar in each classroom brimming with these kind gestures!

DAY 3: Worthwhile WEDNESDAY: Focus on Family

On this day students will be encouraged to think about who they love and appreciate in their family. Each student will make a card for one family member expressing gratitude for what makes them so special. Look out for this special note Wednesday evening!

DAY 4: Thankful THURSDAY: Staff Appreciation Day!

Each student will write a note or decorate a picture to say thanks to all of the wonderful support staff here at St. Vincent’s. We will talk about the roles of each person, and how all their hard work positively impacts them.

DAY 5: Friendly FRIDAY

“Do to others as you would have them do to you.” Luke 6:31
The final day is focused on spiritual reflection. During mass, Father Norman will present ideas of kindness and love and their importance in the Catholic faith. A note of peace and gratitude will be given to each student at the end of the day-because each student is so very appreciate by us!

This week will be one of fun-no pressure on the kids for “added work” other than making another person smile…
…with a random act of kindness.
